The Central Bank of Chile is looking to fill a vacancy for a Senior Economist position in its Macroeconomic Analysis Unit.
Senior economists lead high-quality applied research to guide the economic policy process at the Bank. Candidates are expected to identify relevant issues that may affect monetary policy and contribute to policy discussions, presentations and policy notes through analysis and forecasts regarding the evolution of domestic macroeconomic variables. They are also expected to present and publish their research in academic journals.
The Macroeconomic Analysis Unit is part of the Monetary Policy Division. It elaborates inputs for the Monetary Policy Meetings and the Monetary Policy Report. The unit employs several PhD economists graduated from leading universities, as well as Master-level research assistants. The vacancy is in the Medium-Term Forecasts Department, which conducts macroeconomic analysis and forecasts with state-of-the-art models.
Applicants should have a PhD in Economics, or expect to receive it, by September 2021. Experienced PhD economists are also encouraged to apply. Areas of interest should preferably be in dynamic and quantitative macroeconomics, international finance, and applied macroeconometrics. Candidates with an interest and experience in macroeconomic modelling and forecasting are especially encouraged to apply.
