Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Division of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs (PPPA) in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (SIAS) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Washington Tacoma. This is a full-time tenure track position with a 9-month service period to begin September 16, 2022. Tenure track faculty are expected to teach six classes per year, including both introductory and upper-division courses. The candidate will contribute to PPPA’s interdisciplinary majors of Law & Policy, Politics Philosophy & Economics, and help with the development of a new major in Economics & Policy Analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to engage the local community through research and/or teaching. This position is contingent on funding.

This position seeks someone with expertise in international trade, international political economy, and/or development economics. The ideal candidate will have research and teaching that improves our understanding of the global economy outside of North America.

The minimum qualification for this position is a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in economics or a related field by August 2022. The ideal candidate will be a scholar specializing in the areas of international economics described above, and who engages in teaching and research in areas with direct implications for contemporary social problems.
