Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Economics and Outcomes Research
Location: University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Baltimore, MD
Description: An exciting postdoctoral fellowship opportunity is available with The PATIENTS Program at the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB). The position will report to Associate Professor Joey Mattingly within the School of Pharmacy’s Pharmaceutical Health Services Research (PHSR) Department and core faculty within The PATIENTS Program. Fellowships within the PHSR department provide multidisciplinary, advanced training to health services researchers and clinicians and prepare fellows for positions in academia, government, the pharmaceutical or insurance industries, and consulting.
The selected fellow will engage in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) methods and community-engaged research (CEnR) with activities funded by AHRQ, NIH, PCORI, other federal and state of Maryland government agencies, foundations, and private corporations. Training includes, but is not limited to, mentored research, grant-writing, and teaching experiences; it may also include coursework in econometrics, CEnR or Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR). Successful candidates will be involved in work with both UMB researchers and community partners as part the portfolio of projects supported by The PATIENTS Program (www.patients.umaryland.edu). The PATIENTS Program has eleven staff and is involved in over 20 active projects.

Qualifications: Strong quantitative skills and an ability to work across diverse community settings are required. The selected candidate also should have excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Experience with economic modeling or observational research using real-world data is desired. A PhD in a health economics or health services research discipline is desired, but clinicians with qualitative research training and/or experience are also encouraged to apply.

Finalist interviews will take place on-site in Baltimore or via Skype, following phone screening interviews. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2022; however, A summer or Fall 2022 start date also is feasible.
