The Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo has one opening for a Research Associate in any field of Economics. This is a non-tenure-track post-doctoral position. The maximum term is 3 years, but we are happy to consider applications from candidates who will be taking up a tenure-track position elsewhere and intend to stay for only one or two years.

The main responsibility of the position is to produce high-quality academic research. Voluntary participation in joint research projects in the Institute is encouraged. A limited amount of undergraduate teaching may also be assigned. Teaching will be in English.

The start date for the position is April 1st, 2022, or as soon thereafter as possible.

Candidates must have already obtained or be expected to obtain PhD degree. Some ability to communicate in Japanese, regardless of nationality, is required. Candidates who are unsure of whether they meet the required level of Japanese knowledge are encouraged to apply.
