The fellowships will be with the Bank’s Directorate General for Economics, Statistics and Research in Rome; they are for a term of twelve months, renewable for a further twelve. Winners will be asked to develop a research project of their own.

Winners may also be asked to contribute to policy analysis and to advise senior management on issues within their field of expertise that are of importance to the Bank.

The Bank offers a stimulating working environment and fellows will have the opportunity to participate in high-level academic workshops and seminars and to interact with policymakers. Winners of a fellowship will receive a monthly stipend of € 4,000 before tax.

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D or equivalent or be nearing completion, i.e. they have finished their examinations (or other preparatory activities) and are only awaiting discussion of their thesis. They must be citizens of Italy or of another EU country or equivalent (hold a university degree recognized in Italy, and enjoy full political rights). Applicants must have fluent written and spoken English and they must also have a good knowledge of Italian, which will be assessed during the selection procedure.
Candidates’ research projects will be assessed by a committee of experts.

Those who are judged to have completed their work successfully may be invited to participate in a selection procedure for the recruitment of permanent employees in the management career stream.
The interviews will be held from 7 to 17 December 2021. Depending on how the COVID-10 health emergency proceeds, the interviews will be held in Rome, at the Bank’s head office or remotely (e.g. skype, webex meeting); the interviews from 15 to 17 December will be held in conjunction with the European Job Market for Economists.

For all other matters, candidates should refer to the competition notice, which will be published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana on 8 October 2021 and available on the Bank’s website as of the same date.
