Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Stanford Center on China’s Economy & Institutions (SCCEI), a joint center of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, is inviting applications for a full-time Research Scholar position. Qualified applicants will be PhD-level researchers who have a demonstrated ability to generate high-quality, policy-relevant research on critical issues related to significant current economic challenges in China.

Research Scholars at SCCEI are PhD-level researchers who conduct their own research projects, support faculty research, and manage various research programs. This position would focus on SCCEI research programs in the areas of Education, Firms & Institutions, and Policy & Governance. There is no teaching obligation at SCCEI, although the position may occasionally be asked to support faculty in designing material for a new course or courses on China’s economy.

The position begins in the summer/fall of 2022, and will be renewed annually. The ideal candidate must have strong empirical skills and a Ph.D. in economics. The Research Scholar will join Stanford’s economics research community and connect with other faculty, researchers, and postdoctoral scholars working with SCCEI. SCCEI Research Scholars should expect to be active members of the multidisciplinary community of empirical China researchers at Stanford.

SCCEI values diversity in backgrounds and perspectives. Stanford is an equal opportunity employer. Questions may be sent to Alexis Medina amedina5@stanford.edu.
