Research-Focused Faculty - Social Sciences
The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine in the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) seeks faculty with expertise in the social sciences or related fields. Areas of interest include but are not limited to economics, sociology, psychology and quantitative methods, and applications of these disciplines to health disparities, social determinants of health, quality of care, aging, cancer and health policy. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications.
Appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, schools, and institutes at the University of Chicago that focus on the social sciences or related professions to strengthen interdisciplinary scholarship relevant to health. Appointees may teach and/or hold secondary University of Chicago appointments outside the Biological Sciences Division.

The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park. World class programs in the social sciences and related professions will provide appointees with access to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available.
