The research professor is expected to carry out solution-oriented research on the economics of agriculture and the food chain from farm to fork. The work will produce new insights into the competitiveness of Finnish agriculture and the functionality and efficiency of agricultural product markets in Finland, the EU, and globally, and support the decisions of the main stakeholders in agriculture, food industry and policymaking.

The research professor: 1. conducts, directs and communicates high-quality project-based research in agricultural and food economics. 2. is active and visible in relevant national and international networks. 3. acquires external funding for research and customer projects. 4. co-operates with stakeholders. 5. publishes research in peer-reviewed journals. 6. disseminates research results to a variety of audiences.

The candidate should have a doctoral degree in a relevant field of applied economics and a track record of research publications demonstrating expertise in agricultural and food economics. Advanced skills in econometric methods relevant to studying agricultural and food markets, systemic changes in agriculture and food production and industrial organization are appreciated. The task requires internationally valued and recognized know-how, experience in multi-disciplinary research, a strong publication record, evidence and experience of managing broad research projects and acquiring external funding.
