Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Economics Department seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice (non-tenure track), beginning August 2022. This faculty member will be an integral part of the Department and its long-term commitment to teaching excellence. The allocation of effort for the position is one-half time directing the Department’s Center for Economic Education, 40 percent undergraduate instruction, and 10 percent service. Teaching responsibilities are typically at the introductory level and 6 credit hours per semester. Teaching other courses will depend on the Department’s needs.
The position falls under a multi-year Professor of Practice contract that is renewable every three years, subject to performance. We seek a practitioner with expertise and interest in economic education at the primary, secondary, and university levels.
The Lincoln Center for Economic Education is a visible outreach arm for the Economics Department, the College of Business (CoB), and the University. Center Director duties include advocating for economic and financial education; organizing and conducting events that bring K-12 students to campus; increasing pre-service and in-service outreach to teachers in the form of professional development; and, in partnership with the Nebraska Council on Economic Education, fostering community relationships and establishing a positive reputation with local school districts as an expert on curriculum, pedagogy, and economic and financial education. The Director will leverage the Center’s current successful programs and create robust relationships within the College of Business, across campus and specifically with the College of Education.
Minimum qualifications are a Master’s degree in Economics (or related field) at beginning of appointment and experience in teaching introductory-level economics.
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Economics (or related field), at least (3) years of experience in economic/financial education, and experience in an agency or organization with engagement in economic education.
