The Public Policy Institute of California's objective, high-quality, nonpartisan research informs public policy decisions that improve the well-being of our state’s people, communities, and environment.
PPIC is hiring a research fellow with early childhood research expertise. Candidates need to bring significant interest in connecting research to policy making, plus knowledge of and interest in early education, ideally in a California context. A Ph.D. in economics, demography, education policy, health policy, political science, public policy, sociology, or a related discipline is preferred; quantitative and mixed methods expertise is desirable, along with strong skills in communication and external policy engagement.
Experience level: recent PhD through senior professional.
Topics of interest include TK, preschool, childcare with a focus on child outcomes (especially for DLL and students with disabilities); workforce; public financing; contributions to family economic stability and mobility; and affordability. These topics span the missions of PPIC’s K-12 and Safety Net research groups.
PPIC staff currently works in a hybrid remote/in-person environment. This full-time position can be based in either the San Francisco or Sacramento area.
