Our job is to bring research and analytics to solve the world's problems using Google’s technology, from the everyday to the monumental, we are changing the game, redefining the medium, making the user the priority, and ultimately, letting the technology speak for itself.
As a Health Economist, you will use expertise in social and behavioral science research and analytics to shape Google’s strategy within the healthcare domain. You will be a business leader and strategic thinker, informing decisions about Google’s product development and user experience.
You will act as an applied researcher, working with multi-disciplinary peers to generate impact on the health system by understanding the connections between health outcomes and Google’s technology. You will partner across Product, Engineering, Policy, and Marketing teams embedded within product areas, as well as act as a bridge between Google and our partners from the healthcare domain. You will ensure that our product and business decisions are supported by technical research and generate the most impact. You will develop ongoing relationships with teams to help build sustainable, long-term impact. Your work will have high levels of visibility from leadership.
Responsibilities:
-Conduct applied social and behavioral science research to generate the most impact for products that users interact with daily.
-Work with healthcare industry metrics to understand how Google technology influences measurable health outcomes.
-Build data pipelines from large structured and unstructured data. Analyze using causal models with the highest levels of technical excellence.
-Communicate research findings to stakeholders and leadership.
-Manage internal and external relationships.
Minimum qualifications:
-PhD in Health Economics, a relevant quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
-5 years of experience applying research and analytics methods to issues
-2 years of experience applying research and analytics methods to challenges in the US health domain
-Experience in experimental design and causal inference methods
Preferred qualifications:
-Experience with statistical software (e.g., R and Python) and database languages (i.e. SQL)
-Experience working with US healthcare entities (e.g., provider networks, insurance companies, etc.), with an understanding of the US healthcare industry and how it measures impact
-Experience working with large data systems
-Experience building data pipelines, and/or experience collecting/curating data from multiple sources
-Ability to build collaborative partnerships with Product and Engineering teams, effectively influence and communicate across all levels of management, and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
-Knowledge of patient journeys and health behavior change
