The Economics Department at Virginia Tech seeks to fill an open-rank position in the university's collegiate faculty program. Possible ranks include Collegiate Assistant Professor, Collegiate Associate Professor, or Collegiate Professor. The program is an outgrowth of the university's commitment to undergraduate education. Collegiate faculty primary duties include curriculum development and instruction, undergraduate teaching, undergraduate research supervision, and related scholarly activity. The collegiate faculty positions are full-time multi-year appointments (three years for assistants, five years for associates, and seven years for full professors), appointments are renewable, with reappointment and/or promotion within the collegiate faculty ranks for qualified individuals. Collegiate faculty are expected to have active scholarly agendas, particularly in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Salary and teaching assignments are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Ph.D. in economics is required by the August 2022 appointment start date. The department seeks someone who can teach large section microeconomics principles courses. Successful candidates must have experience and a proven record of undergraduate teaching, including teaching large classes, and advising.
