The Department of Economics invites applications for two career line-Lecturer positions at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank. The initial contract will be for the academic year 2023-2024, although it is expected to renew with subsequent appointments of longer duration, dependent upon performance, departmental needs, and budgetary approvals. In partnership with Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), the University of Utah is expanding course offerings at an instructional site in Herriman, Utah, located approximately 30 miles from main campus in Salt Lake City.

The successful candidates will have a teaching load of three undergraduate courses per semester (six courses per year). Preferred courses include Intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics as well as certain electives such as Money & Banking, Labor Economics or International Economics, but could partially depend on the successful candidate’s expertise. The majority of classes will be scheduled in Herriman, though teaching responsibilities can include online and main campus classes. Strong preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching, and demonstrate a commitment to students with varied backgrounds. Responsibilities include effective coordination with department leadership, central administration, advising staff, Herriman faculty, and SLCC to best serve the Herriman student population. The successful candidate reports to and is evaluated by the Department of Economics at the University of Utah.

The Department of Economics has faculty members using diverse methodological approaches, and invites applicants with interests in any field. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2023, subject to final budgetary approval. A completed Ph.D. is required by the time of appointment.
