The Bates College Economics Department invites applications for multiple full-time Visiting Assistant Professor positions, beginning in August 1, 2023. We are open to candidates in any field of economics. The successful candidates must combine teaching in their field(s) of specialization with a willingness to teach core courses including Introductory Economics or Intermediate Microeconomics. The position will be one academic year in duration with a total teaching load of five courses. All Ph.D. degree requirements must be completed by the date of appointment.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. To be seriously considered, candidates should substantively discuss in their application materials how they design their courses, develop an inclusive climate in the classroom, and demonstrate their success in working with underrepresented, first generation, and marginalized student populations. Qualifications
All Ph.D. degree requirements must be completed by the date of appointment.

Also, please describe your willingness and preparedness for teaching core courses. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
