W2-Professorships
("Bonn Junior Fellows")

These are temporary appointments for a period of five years. Some positions may be endowed with tenure-track, and, in exceptional cases, a position may be tenured immediately.
The University of Bonn actively supports diversity and equal opportunities. The University of Bonn has been certified as a family-friendly university and offers a dual career-service. Its aim is to increase the proportion of women in fields in which women are underrepresented and to place a special focus on promoting their careers. Therefore, the university especially encourages applications from suitably qualified women. Applications will be handled in accordance with the Equal Opportunities Act of North Rhine-Westphalia. Applications from suitably qualified people with documented severe disabilities or from people with an equivalent status are particularly welcomed.
The general conditions of employment are subject to § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen).

The Professorships
The professorships intend to encourage independent research by outstanding early career researchers, analogously to the research groups of the Max Planck Society or the Emmy Noether Program of the German Research Foundation (DFG). The professorships are endowed with travel and guest funds during the initial period. Bonn Junior Fellows also have access to additional resources of the Hausdorff Center. Bonn Junior Fellows are encouraged to supervise doctoral students.

The Candidates
We are looking for early career researchers holding a doctoral degree who are starting to develop their own research agenda. Suitable candidates should have already demonstrated scientific independence with relevant publications. Candidates should have some international research experience. They will contribute to our advanced teaching program. German language skills are not required.

Research Focus
We seek candidates who fit into the broad spectrum of the Cluster of Excellence and complement the existing expertise. Depending on the candidate’s research focus, candidates become members of the "Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences" or of the "Faculty of Law and Economics" at the University of Bonn.
