The Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a scholar in the area of global economics, broadly defined. Successful candidates will have at least three years of experience post-PhD. For appointment at the associate professor level, candidates must be eligible for tenure at the University of Minnesota.

The successful candidate must have strong, demonstrated, applied research and teaching interests in global economics, broadly defined. Particular areas of expertise might include sustainable development, human development, poverty, gender, labor, and/or migration. We are especially interested in candidates whose scholarship features a social justice lens, considers interactions between social and environmental systems, and demonstrates aptitude or interest in public engagement. Candidates with specific country expertise or strong regional interests are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:
A Ph.D., relevant terminal degree, or equivalent foreign degree is required in economics, applied economics, public policy, development studies or related fields that use the theory and tools of economics. Candidates’ scholarship and expertise must include a focus on the Global South; they must be committed to scholarly and policy-relevant research at the highest levels; willing and able to teach in the Humphrey School’s core curriculum; provide leadership to its established Master’s and Ph.D. programs; be willing to help prepare students for professional careers; and function collaboratively in a multi-and interdisciplinary environment.
