Listed in the “First-tier University” national project, Hunan University is one of the top universities in China. The university has a long history of economic teaching and research with its first Economic department established in 1926. The SET is a relatively young college established in 2002. The School inherits the advantages of the economics of the former Hunan University and economics-related disciplines of the former “Hunan Institute of Public Finance and Economics. The school currently hosts four departments (international economics and trade, economics, public finance, and digital economics) and is rapidly growing. Faculty members of the SET have published in decent academic journals such as The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Development Economics, and Economic Research Journal. While 90% of the faculty members have studied overseas, we are urgently seeking to make academic advancements through cultivating excellent teachers and producing high-quality journal articles. The school now confers master’s and doctoral degrees in two first-level disciplines: theoretical economics and applied economics. The school also hosts Hunan Key Base of Social Science for International Trade et al.. It has undertaken a bunch of national key academic research programs, including the Key Disciplinary Development Project entitled “Research on China’s Opening Economics System” subject to the “211” Project, and the Philosophy and Social Science Innovation Base for “Economic Opening up and Trade Development” subject to the “985 Project”. Over the past five years, the school has undertaken a total of 85 national-level research projects and published 372 papers on SSCI and domestic top journals. It has received 36 scientific awards, such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Candidates for all positions must hold a Ph.D. or firmly expect a doctorate degree by August 2024.

The SET offers a competitive package commensurate with experience including competitive salary, research funds, housing allowances, and standard fringe benefits.
