The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks a visionary Dean to lead its College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS). As UMBC’s largest academic unit and a cornerstone of its liberal arts mission, CAHSS fosters critical thinking, creativity, and impactful scholarship. As UMBC continues to build on the momentum of its recent elevation to R1 research status, the next Dean will play a vital role in shaping the College’s future, strengthening its academic programs, supporting faculty achievement, and advancing its public mission.

CAHSS comprises 24 departments and two programs, each contributing unique perspectives and strengths. The Dean will cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration, inclusive pedagogy, and student success, while navigating evolving funding and enrollment landscapes. This role calls for a strategic leader with a distinguished scholarly record, strong administrative experience, and a commitment to student success and meaningful community engagement.
