For over a century, the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) has advanced research and built capacity in the social sciences. With the Council in excellent financial health and social science more vital than ever, the SSRC Board of Directors has launched a search for its next President, to begin in early 2026. Full-time commitment is preferred, though part-time (minimum 50%) candidates will be considered.
The President serves as the SSRC’s chief executive, responsible for strategic direction, fiscal health, and serving as the organization’s principal spokesperson. Ideal candidates will be distinguished social scientists with intellectual breadth, collaborative skill, and a commitment to innovation and inclusion.
Key qualifications include:
Intellectual leadership to position SSRC as a catalyst in the field
Advocacy for the social sciences
Commitment to transparency and equity
Network cultivation, including internationally
Proven fundraising ability
Executive leadership experience
The role reports to the Board and carries a renewable five-year term. Salary range: $450,000–$550,000, with benefits including health, pension, tuition support, and more.
