Full Text of JOE Listing:

The University of Minnesota Morris invites applications at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank for a tenure-track opening in Economics and Business Management, beginning August 17, 2026.

Among the nation's highest ranked public liberal arts colleges (U.S. News and World Report), UMN Morris values excellence in teaching and research, along with advising and service. Classroom excellence is supported through peer mentoring, programming provided by the UMN's Center for Educational Innovation, funding junior faculty to participate in the NCFDD's Faculty Success Program, and other means. As a campus of one of the nation's largest universities, UMN Morris provides multiple supports for faculty scholarship (e.g., one semester of teaching relief typically in year 3, funding for conference travel, Grant-in-Aid, Imagine Fund, Faculty Research Enhancement Funds, Institute for Advanced Study Residential Fellowship). A significant research program, as judged by external academic reviewers, is required for tenure and promotion.

Our institution serves one of the most diverse student bodies in Minnesota and is the only federally recognized Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution in the Upper Midwest. The campus is a national leader in sustainability, evidenced by receipt of the inaugural Excellence in Sustainability award from the National Association of College and University Business Officers and an AASHE STARS Gold rating. UMN Morris students are taught by a faculty with the highest per capita representation in the University of Minnesota's Academy of Distinguished Teaching, and students consistently win national awards, as demonstrated by UMN Morris's status among the top baccalaureate institutions producing student Fulbright awards.

The successful candidate will teach 20 credits annually (e.g., 5 4-credit courses). Interest in and ability to deliver Business Management curriculum (e.g., Finance, HR/Labor-Management Relations; Business Law; Managerial Economics; Corporate Strategy; Entrepreneurship; and others), teach principles of Economics, and offer at least one upper division elective in Economics is essential. A terminal degree at the time of application is preferred (PhD in Economics, Public Policy, or a closely related field; D.B.A., J.D. considered; an M.B.A. in addition to a terminal degree will be looked upon favorably).

The salary range is $70-$78K. With our excellent benefits, the total compensation will be between $95,600-$106,400. Employees at UMN Morris are immediately vested in our retirement program, which has a high employer contribution of 10% and an employee contribution of 5.5%. The compensation package also includes generous medical, dental, and other benefits, which can be viewed on our posting at https://hr.myu.umn.edu/jobs/ext/370565.
