Location: Cambridge, MA remote work possible.

The NBER Economic Measurement Research Institute (EMRI), directed by Katharine Abraham (University of Maryland) and Matthew Shapiro (University of Michigan), supports research on the measurement of prices, output, labor market outcomes, technology, and related concepts, as well as demonstration projects leading to new approaches to the creation of official economic statistics.

The Executive Director will work to advance the EMRI’s objectives--, promoting scientific collaboration across subprojects, conducting outreach to businesses and statistical agencies, promoting and coordinating data acquisition and management, disseminating EMRI’s research findings and promoting their implementation in official statistics, and sustaining and broadening EMRI’s activities.

Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related discipline with five or more years of relevant post-Ph.D. experience whether employment with private sector data providers, the federal government developing statistical data products, and/or a research position leading to scientific publications on measurement-related topics. The candidate will have demonstrated success managing research and promoting translation of research findings into practice; research expertise relevant to economic measurement; experience interacting with executive personnel in business and government; the ability to work effectively with researchers of all seniority levels; and strong communications and organizational skills.
