The University at Albany seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to join a multi-institution team studying the economic effects of research doctorates using linked employer–employee, firm, and R&D data. Work is primarily in a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC). The role supports and creates cutting-edge academic research: constructing/linking restricted-use data; documenting code and data products; co-developing methods and empirical design with the team. The postdoc will coauthor journal articles; prepare summary/technical reports; present findings at professional meetings; and collaborate on grant proposals. Mentoring and professional development are integral.

Required: Ph.D. in Economics or related field (by start date); strong applied micro/econometric skills, experience conducting social science research; either (i) active U.S. Census Bureau Special Sworn Status (SSS) or (ii) eligibility and willingness to obtain SSS for Title 13/26 FSRDC work.

Preferred: Field fit in labor, industrial organization, education, and/or economics of science and innovation; experience with restricted use/admin linkages and large datasets; prior FSRDC work.

Location: On-site work in an FSRDC; the specific location will be set in consultation with the selected candidate.
