Tecnológico de Monterrey, through the Center for the Future of Cities (CFC), invites applications for a Professor-Fellow position in Urban Economics. This position aims to strengthen applied, policy-relevant research in Mexico in the following areas:
• Affordable housing models
• Impacts of land-use regulation on housing costs
• Infrastructure costs associated with different urban form configurations
• Property tax
• Effects of transportation systems on land values
• Fiscal impacts of urban growth and expansion
• Spatial and General Equilibrium Models for land, zoning and taxes
The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of urban planners and researchers at the CFC, producing rigorous research that integrates urban economic theory, advanced empirical methods, and policy applications. The position also involves collaboration on the CFC’s impact-driven applied research projects in Mexican cities.
We seek candidates with strong quantitative training and experience or familiarity with general equilibrium models, spatial analysis, and econometric modeling.
We will consider junior candidates that will complete their degree no later than September 2026.
Compensation is competitive and includes support for research activities.

• A Job Market Paper in any field of urban economics in this list: spatial patterns of jobs and housing location; property taxes, housing finance and economics, spatial segregation, cost of sprawl, housing prices and cost, and other related subfields excepting transportation.
• A research statement for the next three years (no longer than three pages).
• A statement of teaching philosophy (no more than two pages) that includes potential course offerings.
• Three letters of recommendation written within the last year. In the case of early career scholars at least one of these letters should come from the PhD advisor.
