President-elect Janice Eberly and the 2027 AEA Program Committee have an exciting program planned for the ASSA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, on January 3-5, 2027. Featured 2027 AEA Panel Sessions

This year's program will feature sessions on the investments and institutions that support economic growth and standards of living, highlighting research on innovation, education and human capital, health, housing, the environment, and effective policy institutions. Featured speakers include Nobel laureates Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt on institutions and economic growth, as well as Ulrike Malmendier, Kenneth Rogoff, Silvana Tenreyro, and Raghuram Rajan on economic policy in a fragmenting world. An Invitation for Government and Public Service Economists at the Annual Meeting

For the 2027 AEA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, the AEA is pleased to invite economists working in the public sector to its President’s Reception on January 4, 2027, at 6:00 p.m. The reception will be held at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, in the Capital and Congress rooms. Economists in government and public service put economic research and analysis to work on behalf of the public each day—informing policy, strengthening institutions, improving public programs, and helping decision-makers navigate some of society’s most consequential challenges.

Public-sector economists attending the annual meeting are warmly invited to join AEA President Katharine Abraham, President-elect Janice Eberly, and other AEA leaders at this event, which is sure to be fun and memorable for all.

RCT Registry Fee

The AEA RCT Registry allows researchers to share their work with collaborators, other scholars, students, and the general public by providing links to survey instruments, experimental findings, and experimental protocols. In 2025, the AEA executive committee voted to introduce a $50 registration fee to help support the continued operation and maintenance of the registry. Payments will begin with November 2026 registrations. Those experiencing financial hardships need only check a box to have the fee waived. CSQIEP 1:1 Mentoring Program

The Committee on the Status of LGBTQ+ Individuals in the Economics Profession (CSQIEP) is currently recruiting mentees and mentors for the 1:1 Mentoring Program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The program seeks to match senior researchers with Ph.D. students and early-career researchers to offer one-on-one guidance on navigating the economics profession. Prior participants are welcome to apply. Applications are due on November 1. If you would like to sign up as either a mentee or a mentor, please go to the following website for more information and instructions: https://sites.google.com/view/csqiep-mentoring.

The CSQIEP 1:1 Mentoring Program is distinct from the annual CSQIEP Mentoring Conference, which takes place during the summer and will accept applications in the spring. Interested individuals are welcome to apply to both programs.
