(October 6, 2015 -- Nashville, TN) The American Economic Association is pleased to introduce a new "Research Highlights" feature on their website covering timely and interesting economics research from their line of flagship scholarly publications, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Literature, the Journal of Economic Perspectives and the four field-specific American Economic Journals.

Peter Rousseau, Secretary-Treasurer of the Association explains, "the coverage is tailored to assist academics, policymakers, and journalists who may not always have time to stay abreast of the latest research or emerging topics." The new content also aims to reach a more general readership via summaries of research articles, related content links and graphs, and accessible presentations of lessons drawn from the research.

Web content editor Tim Hyde monitors forthcoming articles, writes summaries, gathers related materials, and incorporates topical trends and editor referrals into his journalistic viewpoint on published AEA research. Recent highlights include a debate about the nature of rising income inequality, a discussion of the economics of grade inflation, and the relationship between voter impatience and the national debt. The series also explores timely topics in the news, with recent pieces on the economics of migration barriers and the implications of mergers in the health insurance industry.

The Association intends to expand the highlights coverage as a convenient way for their audience to monitor key research and topics being covered in AEA journals.

New research highlights are published weekly on the AEA's website and are available on the AEA's twitter feed @aeajournals. An online archive of all highlights is available at https://www.aeaweb.org/research/archive.php.
