Reviewer Guidelines

AER: Insights endeavors to publish papers without extensive revisions.  Our initial decision on a manuscript is either a conditional acceptance or a rejection.  Conditional acceptances are not returned to referees for follow-up reports.  In keeping with this, the most important and helpful aspect of a report is a clear and thoughtful explanation of why the paper’s execution and contribution to the literature do or do not make it suitable for publication in AER: Insights.  

Because reviewers should remain anonymous to authors, we ask you not to use your name in the body or filename of your report.

Please disclose any use of AI in your cover letter and restrict the use of AI tools to subscriptions guaranteeing that interactions will not be used for training AI models. We emphasize that your expertise, judgment, and critical insight are essential to the review process, and we expect your report to reflect your own careful reading and evaluation of the paper.
